Referrals

For Parents

Parents are not able to apply for their child to attend Cherry Tree.
Referrals for our service are made by the pupil’s school and are supported by a medical practitioner.

For School Staff

If you have a pupil who has been absent from school for 15 days either consecutively or cumulatively with the same medical/mental health condition, you can make a referral for educational support from Cherry Tree Learning Centre using our ‘Request for involvement form’.  Please note this requires signatures from the parent/carers and from the Head Teacher.  A charge is made for the support. Further details can be accessed from the main office.

An Admissions and Complex Case Panel meeting is convened every Wednesday to discuss all new referrals.  In order to qualify for support, evidence is required from a medical practitioner, either from health or from CAMHS.   The intention is always to reintegrate to school or other educational establishment.

Schools are responsible for setting and marking the academic work the pupil is following, as they will continue to follow the school curriculum in preparation for reintegration.

Schools are responsible for organising review meetings every 6 weeks, inviting multi-agency colleagues, taking and distributing the minutes.  It is good practice to keep in touch with the pupil whilst they are off and ensure they continue to receive any school communications.  The pupil remains on the roll of the school and is dual registered with CTLC.
